Can we control destiny? A Prasna

My colleague's daughter-in-law's cesarean delivery was scheduled for an auspicious day on Feb 19th. They had even confirmed through scanning that it was going to be a baby boy. Having faith in astrology, they had the unborn baby’s horoscope generated beforehand and made arrangements for the baby’s delivery at 6:30 a.m.

Around noon on the 18th, as he informed me of this and proudly professed how man is able to take destiny into his own hands and is able to draw the horoscopes even before the birth of a child, I somehow felt that the operation might not happen at that time. To double-check this feeling of mine, I looked at the planetary position. As he continued to talk, I generated the query chart in my mind.  It was a Vrishabha (Taurus) Lagna chart with Saturn in the 5th house, having 3rd aspect on the 7th house and 7th aspect on the Moon, which was in 11th house of gain. Moon was in a descending state. Hence, the outcome would not be in his favour. Then what would happen? Jupiter and Venus were very close to each other, just one degree apart in Aquarius, which is a strong 10th kendra. Aquarius being a fixed sign and the planets in it being fully benefic, were indicating early results.

So I said, “As opposed to your expectations, the delivery will happen shortly”. He looked at me doubtfully and said, “The hospital is world-class and the delivery time was given by a well experienced specialist doctor, their calculated time will not go wrong even by a slight margin”. We were still talking and he received a phone call from his son in Chennai. I could understand the situation, through his facial expressions.

The message was that due to increased labor pains, the operation had to be performed urgently and that his wife had just then delivered a baby boy, so he was asked to start immediately. He looked at me in astonishment, wondering - How it was possible to predict? He even suspected that I had some secret powers, to which I did not say anything.  He then started to Chennai, immediately.

The operation planned for 19th morning happened on 18th ! The horoscope had now completely changed. This reminds me of the saying, ‘Man proposes but God disposes’. Can man, who is just a speck of dust in the Universe, achieve anything, by arrogantly presuming that he can control everything?

I also asked him, “Why did you go for a scan? What would you have done if you came to know that a baby girl was to be born?” He replied - “We just wanted to find out casually; we would bring up the child even more affectionately if it were a girl”.  I believed him, as they were very rich. However, if it were any poor family, we all know the disastrous end a girl child would have met! I wonder how these money-hungry doctors perform gender scans, in spite of knowing that such scans are illegal?
